ZTM Warszawa, Warsaw public transport company, launched on February 3rd a tender for the acquisition of 213 new trams with an estimated value of PLN 2.3 billion (€538 million). The contract comprises a firm order for 123 vehicles with a single option for 90 more.
The base order includes 85 bidirectional and 18 unidirectional trams, which will be 33m long, as well as 20 24m-long vehicles. The option is exclusively for 33m-long vehicles with 45 unidirectional and 45 bidirectional units.
Bids will be evaluated according to the price (53%), level of maintenance activity in first 1 million-km (20%), energy consumption (9%), impact on track (5%) and low-floor area (3%).
The delivery of the first tram is planned for the second quarter of 2019 and the main order will need to be completed by April 2021. The additional trams included in the contract should be delivered by June 2023.
